Areas We Service Across Brisbane

We provide home battery installation in Brisbane across eligible homes in Brisbane and surrounding SEQ areas.

Inner Brisbane

New Farm, Teneriffe, Paddington, Bardon, West End, Highgate Hill, Woolloongabba, Coorparoo, and Norman Park include plenty of character homes and pre-war Queenslanders, where access, structure and battery placement need careful consideration.

Northside

Clayfield, Nundah, Kedron, Stafford, Everton Park, Chermside, Aspley, Bridgeman Downs, and Bald Hills combine post-war homes with newer properties and strong existing solar uptake.

Western Suburbs

Ashgrove, The Gap, Toowong, Indooroopilly, Kenmore, Chapel Hill, Brookfield, and Jindalee have leafy streets and larger blocks, but mature trees can make shading an important part of assessing your existing solar system.

Southside

Holland Park, Mount Gravatt, Carindale, Wishart, Sunnybank, Runcorn, and Calamvale have plenty of detached homes with useful roof space and generally straightforward battery placement.

Bayside

Wynnum, Manly, Lota, Capalaba, Birkdale, Cleveland, and Victoria Point bring coastal conditions into the assessment. Battery position and suitable enclosure matter where properties are exposed to salt air.

Northern Corridor

North Lakes, Mango Hill, Redcliffe, Kallangur, Strathpine, Narangba, Burpengary, and Caboolture include many newer homes, with solar often installed as part of the original build.

Western Corridor

Springfield Lakes, Ripley, Goodna, Redbank Plains, and Brassall sit within a fast-growing corridor where many homes already have solar, making battery retrofits a natural next step for some households.

Solar Battery Costs in Brisbane

What moves the solar battery price in Brisbane isn't a single number, it's a handful of factors:

Usable capacity you need

Single-phase vs three-phase power

Whether a new inverter is required

Retrofit onto existing solar vs a new system

Rebates and current promotions applied

On an elevated Queenslander, access can be a genuine cost variable. Getting equipment and cabling into an under-house space, around stairs or through
a constrained side passage can be very different from installing on a newer single-level home.

If you're comparing solar battery costs in Brisbane, it's also important to look at what you're getting for the price rather than comparing battery
capacity alone.

Where a Battery Can Go in a Brisbane Home

The best battery location depends on your home, existing solar system, and available space. Before installation, we assess the site to make sure the proposed location is practical, accessible, and suitable for the battery system.

What a Site Assessment Checks

  • Required clearances around the battery
  • Ventilation and surrounding conditions
  • Distance from doors, windows and other relevant openings
  • Access for installation and future servicing
  • Existing solar panels and inverter
  • Switchboard capacity and available space
  • The proposed mounting surface and battery location
  • Any property-specific restrictions that could affect placement

Queenslanders and Elevated Homes

Queenslander homes can have a very different battery installation environment from a modern single-level home. Under-house areas, stump construction, timber walls, stairs, ventilation and access all need to be considered. A battery may need to be positioned differently depending on the structure and the selected system, and we assess the property before confirming a suitable location.

Flood-Prone Properties

For properties in areas affected by Brisbane's flood history, the proposed battery location should also be considered in relation to known flood levels and the physical conditions of the site.

Heat and Humidity

Brisbane summers can put more demand on both your home and your energy system. Battery placement needs to account for heat, humidity and ventilation.

A position away from direct western sun and with suitable ventilation can be preferable to an exposed location. Batteries also have specified operating conditions, so we'll assess the proposed position against the requirements of the selected system.

Coastal Exposure

Homes around the bayside can experience greater exposure to salt air. This is another reason battery position and suitable enclosure matter when we're assessing an installation.

Grid Connection and Approvals

Brisbane and much of South East Queensland are served by Energex. Battery storage systems need to be connected in accordance with the applicable network requirements, with different processes applying depending on whether the system is designed to export energy to the grid.

Energex currently offers dynamic connections for eligible distributed energy resource systems, including solar and battery systems, with export levels able to vary according to network conditions. Your installer submits the relevant connection application on your behalf.

Australian Installation Standards

Battery installations must meet applicable Australian electrical and safety requirements, including AS/NZS 5139 where applicable. These requirements cover areas such as battery location, clearances, protection, and other installation considerations.

Our CEC-certified technicians assess the proposed location and install systems in accordance with the relevant requirements. See our QLD solar battery installation page for more information.

  • Safety

Our batteries use LiFePO4 chemistry with integrated fire suppression, installed to
AS/NZS 5139 by every crew, every time.

  • Proven track record

VoltX Energy has been recognised as a top 5 battery installer by SunWiz and sits behind thousands of Australian home installs, which is a big part of why we're regarded as a trusted solar battery installer in Brisbane.

What Our Customers Say

Quick, Tidy Install and Helpful Tech Support

“Recently had the Team at VoltX Energy install a Battery at our home in Thornlands. After working through my issues siting the battery safely, the install team were on site and the job was done quickly. Installers did a great job and left the site clean and tidy. I did have some problems setting up the battery with the App so it would charge when I needed it to (my inability to use the simple app was the problem). This however was a five-minute call with tech support who walked me through everything and were to happy to help. Thanks VoltX.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Brisbane suburbs and postcodes do you service?

We service eligible homes across Brisbane and selected surrounding SEQ areas, including Brisbane's inner suburbs, northside, western suburbs, southside, and bayside.

Serviceability depends on your postcode and property. If you're unsure whether we cover your address, call 1300 689 572 or send us your suburb and postcode and we'll confirm availability.

How much does a solar battery cost in Brisbane?

The cost depends on battery capacity, your existing solar and inverter, single-phase or three-phase power, switchboard requirements, installation conditions, and site access.

Eligible properties may also receive applicable government incentives, which can reduce the upfront cost. We'll account for applicable incentives when preparing your quote.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?

Often, yes. This is one of the most common reasons Brisbane homeowners contact us.

We'll check your existing solar array, inverter, generation, switchboard, and household usage first. If the existing system is too old, undersized, or heavily shaded to support a battery effectively, we'll explain that before recommending storage.

What rebates are available for batteries in Queensland?

The Australian Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides around a 30% discount on eligible small-scale battery systems connected to new or existing rooftop solar, subject to the program's eligibility requirements.

Queensland's previous Battery Booster rebate program is closed to new applications, so we don't present it as a current rebate.

We'll help you understand the incentives that apply to your system when preparing your quote.

Will a battery keep my power on during a storm outage?

A compatible battery can provide backup power to selected circuits during an outage. What stays powered depends on the battery, inverter, and backup configuration.

It won't automatically keep every appliance running, and a prolonged outage may require a different system design from standard backup.

Can a battery be installed under a Queenslander?

It can be possible, but it depends on the specific property and system.

Under-house spaces, ventilation, structure, access, clearances, and the selected battery all need to be assessed. We'll determine whether an under-house location is appropriate rather than assuming it will work.

How long does solar battery installation take in Brisbane?

Timing depends on the system, site requirements, approvals, equipment availability, and scheduling. We'll confirm the expected process and timing once we've assessed your property and selected system.

What battery size do I need to cover summer air-conditioning?

That depends on how much electricity your air-conditioning uses, how long it runs, what your solar system generates, and what other appliances are operating at the same time.

Rather than sizing a battery around one appliance, we'll look at your actual household usage and how much energy you need after the sun goes down.
